Ascentra Credit Union Celebrates 75 Years of Community Impact and Financial Empowerment

Ascentra Credit Union is proud to commemorate its 75th anniversary (June 22, 1950), marking a significant milestone in its journey of serving the Quad Cities community. Founded in 1950 in the basement of ALCOA in Riverdale, Iowa, Ascentra has grown from a small employee credit union into a leading financial institution with over $577 million in assets and nine branches across Iowa and Illinois."We are deeply grateful to our members and the communities we serve," said Linda Andry, President and CEO of Ascentra Credit Union. "This anniversary is not just a celebration of our past but a reflection of our ongoing commitment to empowering individuals and families through financial education, accessible services and community engagement."

Throughout its history, Ascentra has remained steadfast in its mission to improve the financial well-being of its members and the broader community. Some key initiatives include:

Financial Education Programs: Ascentra partners with local organizations to provide financial literacy workshops, helping individuals build credit, manage debt and plan for the future.

Community Grants and Donations: The credit union has contributed over $1 million to various charitable causes, supporting initiatives in education, housing, and economic development.

Scholarship Opportunities: Each year, Ascentra offers $15,000 in scholarships to traditional students, students pursuing higher education and students in vocational or trades programs, reinforcing its commitment to fostering the next generation of leaders.

As Ascentra celebrates this milestone, it remains focused on the future, continuing to innovate and adapt to meet the evolving needs of its members. "We look forward to the next 75 years of serving our members and making a positive impact in our communities," added Andry. "Together, we will continue to build a brighter financial future for all."

To commemorate this significant moment in Ascentra’s history, they are offering exciting new promotions for new members and valued members and hosting eight different lunch celebrations at their branch locations throughout June. There are three significant promotions that all residents can take advantage of. From a new member offer that invites people to join the credit union and sign up for products and services that could add up to $375 being added to their account. This offer is also available to existing members, to help add to their financial benefits and add money to their accounts. They are also offering a referral bonus, which gives members $75 for every person they refer to the credit union who becomes a member.

They are also holding a special event with their community partners on June 18 at their home office, where they we celebrate the partnerships, they have embraced over the past several years, talk about the impact made in the community and announce additional initiatives and donations in the upcoming future.
