2026 Board Election & Annual Meeting

At the next annual meeting, there will be three positions open for our volunteer board of directors. Each is a three-year term position. The voting will take place in person by paper ballot only at the annual meeting.

1) No nominations will be taken from the floor of the annual meeting.

2) No absentee ballots will be accepted.

The following board candidates are listed below with their qualifications:

 

Larry Ridenour

 

Davenport, Iowa resident Larry Ridenour was initially elected to the credit union board of directors in 1991 and again in 1993, serving to the present date. Larry joined Alcoa Davenport Works in 1966, retiring after 30 years as CAD CAM Programmer. Larry is the past Chairperson of Alcoa DavPak and the 25-year club. Larry received an associate's degree in numerical control programming, computer aided drafting and CAD CAM Programming. Larry has served as Chair of the board of directors, Vice Chair, Chair of the Credit and Audit Committees, ALCO Committee and has served as the Treasurer.

Larry currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Board, Finance Committee Secretary, ALCO Committee Secretary, Personnel Committee Secretary, Cyber Security Committee Secretary and Ascentra Credit Union Foundation Vice Chair. He has additionally served on the Board & Director Policy Updates, Building, Certified Development Financial Institution, Credit, Disaster Recovery, Executive, Governance, Marketing, Nominations, Personnel, and Strategic Planning Committees. He was the recipient of the 2014 Iowa Credit Union Cooperative Spirit Award for exemplifying the spirit of the credit union industry and the communities they serve.

During Larry's tenure on the credit union board of directors, he completed the financial achievement program and America’s Credit Union Professional Development Program. This experience has given him significant insight into the operation of the credit union. Larry was instrumental in forming the Ascentra Credit Union Foundation to focus on large-impact community funding. The foundation has made a positive impact on the lives of many.

 

Tom Gibbs

Thomas was born in Davenport but grew up in Coralville. He graduated from Iowa City West High School and joined the
United States Air Force. He served as a Military Working Dog Handler/Security Forces and ended his career doing Bomb

Dog Support for Air Force One Mission and Support Complex.

He left the Air Force and worked briefly in private security at the Library of Congress before joining the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. Thomas returned to the Quad Cities in 2004, where he began his career with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office. He continues to serve Scott County and the Sheriff’s Office as a Lieutenant in charge of Dayshift Patrol Operations. 

Thomas joined the Ascentra Credit Union Board of Directors as an Associate Board Member in 2020. He was appointed to fill a vacancy on the Board of Directors in 2020. Thomas currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors, ALCO Committee Chair, Foundation Committee Chair, Governance Committee Chair, Personnel Committee Chair, Disaster Recovery & IT Technology Committee Secretary, Finance Committee Secretary and serves on the Credit Committee. Tom has also served on the Auditing, Credit, Cyber Security and Executive Committees.

Thomas is married to his wife Heather Gibbs, and they live in Bettendorf. They have two daughters who attend the Pleasant Valley School District.

 

Mary Soeder

Mary is a Bettendorf, Iowa resident and worked at Alcoa for 34 years in Supply Chain Management as a Secretary, Coordinator, Order Editor, Plate Planner and Customer Service Delivery Specialist. She retired in 2002 and is currently a member of the Alcoa 25-year club. She is a graduate of Assumption High School and the American Institute of Commerce (AIC) in business. Mary currently serves as Secretary of the board, Governance Committee Secretary and Nominations Committee Secretary. She has also served on the following board committees: Audit, Building, Certified Development Financial Institution, Credit, Executive, Foundation, Personnel, Strategic Planning Session, Disaster Recovery & Information Technology. Mary is also a member of the Mississippi Valley Quilting Guild.
