Winners of the 2014 Traditional Student $1,000 Ascentra Scholarship
Madison Temperly - Eldridge, Iowa
Madison is currently a senior at North Scott High School and has participated in the North Scott Singers, Women’s Chorale, Mixed Chorus, and Cross Country team for all four years. She will be attending the University of Northern Iowa in pursuit of a nursing degree. After her four years at the University of Northern Iowa she plans to enroll in graduate school to earn her master’s degree in nurse practitioner.
Caitlin Thom - Bettendorf, Iowa
Caitlin is currently a senior at Pleasant Valley High School where she has achieved scholastic recognition for being on the Honor Roll and a becoming a member of the National Honors Society. She is also heavily involved in extra-curricular activities such as holding the position of President of the Quad City Chapter of the American Harp Society and playing the harp for the Iowa All-State Orchestra since 2011. She will continue her education at Augustana College in Rock Island.
Taylor Trumbo - Davenport, Iowa
Taylor is currently finishing his senior year at Bettendorf High School where he spends his time participating in clubs such as Future Business Leaders of America and Spanish. He will be attending Iowa State University this fall in pursuit of an Engineering degree. Not only does he excel academically, but also athletically. Taylor has won letters in both cross country and track and field during his four years at Bettendorf High School.
Lauren Pittman - Clinton, Iowa
Lauren is a senior at the Prince of Peace Catholic School where she holds leadership positions such as President of the National Honors Society and the captain of her basketball team. Lauren has also spent a lot of her time volunteering for the community such as coordinating blood drives, tutoring students, and serving as a Eucharistic Minister for her church. This fall she will be attending Loyola University in Chicago.
Jacob Logan - Bettendorf, Iowa
Jacob is currently a senior at Bettendorf High School and is concurrently taking courses at Scott Community College. Jacob was on the tennis team for all four years at Bettendorf High School as well as being an active member of the debate/speech team. This fall he will begin his undergraduate program at Midwestern State University or Central College.

Micaela Terronez - East Moline, Illinois
Micaela is currently a student at Augustana College where she is earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Anthropology. She has held internships at both the Mexican American Research Center and The Putnam Museum of History and Natural Science. Micaela is an active member of the Chi Alpha Pi sorority and an Ambassador for the Augustana Multicultural Services.
Hailey Oepping - Muscatine, Iowa
Hailey graduates from Muscatine Community College in May and will be attending the University of Iowa in the fall. Hailey made the Dean’s List every semester during her time at Muscatine Community College. In high school Hailey won letters in both cross country and swimming and has been able to work as a lifeguard for the YMCA and intern/volunteer for the Muscatine Art Center.
Maddison Theisen - LeClaire, Iowa
Maddison is finishing up her first year at Loras College where she is taking classes focused in business, economics, calculus, and sports management. She stays actively involved at Loras as a player for the soccer team and was awarded academically receiving the LORAS Merit Scholarship.
Jessica Tucker - Cleveland, Illinois
Jessica is currently enrolled in classes at both Blackhawk College and the Quad City Campus for Western Illinois through a linkage program. Her commitment to her education has resulted in winning many awards including the IHSA Scholastic Award, three different scholarships, and the Abraham Lincoln Book Award.
Darcey Jansen - Eldridge, Iowa
Darcey is currently a Registered Nurse in the blood banking industry and is in the process of obtaining her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Capella University. After that she intends on obtaining her master’s degree in nursing with a specialization in nursing education.
