This is the story of Courtney and Jacob Eikenberry who reached financial bliss with a little help from their friends at Ascentra.
Leading up to their wedding and wanting to open a joint account, Courtney read online about the ways people save money when joining a credit union and paid a visit to their new friend Account Officer Veronica Sellers. This was just the beginning of a beautiful relationship between Courtney, Jacob and the people of Ascentra.
Veronica’s service went beyond helping the Eikenberry’s with their finances; she actually made the couple their wedding cake which they describe as being nothing short of awesome!
When it came time to finance their first home, Veronica introduced them to Mortgage Officer Shawn Wright who walked them step-by-step through the mortgage process. Courtney and Jacob knew they were in good hands and in just six days after their wedding they had all their mortgage paperwork signed and were ready to close on their first home together.
Not long after moving into their new home, Jacob got a new job in Dubuque, Iowa and the couple had to relocate. But the honeymoon with Ascentra was not over thanks to services like Online Account Access, the MyMobile App and the credit union’s participation in the Co-op Shared Branching network which offers over 5,000 branches nationwide. Courtney is able to deposit checks through her app or cash them at a participating shared branch in her local grocery store in Dubuque.
Courtney loves that she can still conduct business with Ascentra even if she lives an hour’s drive away from the location of her favorite account officer. While there still is a long physical distance the Eikenberry’s know that the service they get is personal and that they will be taken care of better than any bank. Listening, caring, and doing what’s right is how we have helped this happy couple find their financial bliss!
This is the story of Caitlin Thom, a young Ascentra Credit Union member.
Caitlin Thom is an aspiring harpist and a student at Augustana College where she is studying music. As a member and student she applied for the 2014 Ascentra Scholarship Program. Her efforts paid off as she was awarded one of ten $1,000 scholarships to help her pursue her dreams.
She was so appreciative that she sent us a very nice thank you card that was music to our ears! Our efforts in the community go beyond helping members achieve their financial needs. We help people like Caitlin chase their dreams.
We stay true to our cooperative principles and work for the sustainable development of our communities. With programs like Casual for a Cause, Pay It Forward, and Steppin’ Up, we reach beyond our membership to make it a better place for all.
This is the story of the Shreves, long time Ascentra Credit Union members.
Dixie Shreve and her husband Bob are long time members who over the years have counted on Ascentra on numerous occasions. She played Mrs. Claus during Christmastime at community events, and when Dixie and Bob had a hard time keeping up with their not-so-jolly mortgage payment at another financial institution, they turned to us.
Account Officer Joni Kaasa and Mortgage Officer Mary Lucas worked with Dixie to refinance her home and were able to save the Shreves a substantial amount of money on their monthly mortgage payment. Ascentra came through for the Shreves once again and Dixie is so grateful that she can’t stop singing praises about us.
Dixie knows she has found a trusted financial partner. Now in retirement, she has found more than that - she has now given the Mrs. Claus outfit to our own Joni Kaasa who wears it on December 24th at our Davenport West 53rd Street branch.
This is the story of Mark Heidt, long time Ascentra Credit Union member.
Mark’s story started when he stopped in to see our Bettendorf Grant Street Branch Manager Kristin Wright, not to complain, but to just tell her about the great service he has been receiving and how very appreciative he is of how her staff has handled his financial situation. He mentioned Mortgage Officer Jodi Jackson, Loan Officer Dan Guerrero and Account Representative Angie Schafer by name but also wanted to give kudos to all the staff at her branch.
Mark has been going through a bit of a rough patch and said that the services he has received from us had been the only bright spot throughout the ordeal. Mark expressed how when he dealt with other financial institutions in the past, he never felt like they treated him like a person or that they really valued his business the way Ascentra does.
He also said that when faced with a situation where other financial institutions were not willing to help our staff dove right in and helped him find a solution. He didn't hear “sorry, we can’t do that.” Ascentra found a way to help!
Sometimes it’s the littlest things – like valuing relationships – that have a big impact in the lives of our members.
